There’s only one way to truly immerse yourself in fall, and that is to get out in it! We know we have a little ways to go but it’ll be on us before you know it and you don’t want to miss out on your chance to experience the beautiful Vermont fall foliage.
We’re lucky enough to live in Okemo Valley where the trees are plenty. Simply walk outside our Inn and you’ll find some trails! Chester, in particular, is home to the Lost Mine and Butternut Hill Trails which travel around the Town Forest.
Mt. Ascutney State Park is close and offers a selection of 5 trails from moderate to difficult. Their Summit Trail is just under 1.5 miles and is considered kid-friendly. Weathersfield Trail is a three-hour hike that only takes about 30 minutes to drive to from our inn.
If you want to see the sights from a bird’s eye view, we suggest heading to Magic Mountain where you can take their Green Lift up to mid-mountain for some great views and beer tasting. They offer these rides on specific weekends through September and early October from 10 am – 3 pm. See their calendar for dates here.
A hike or bike is a great way to spend some time outdoors and relieve some everyday stress. When you come back, we’ll have a nice meal for you at the tavern! Have you seen our summer menu?
Of course, you’ll want more than just pictures to remember your stay, so we suggest heading to the Vermont Country Store in Weston. It’s a wonderful, family-owned store that sells all the best of the state from flannel pants to our famous maple syrup. Make this store a must-see on your vacation and you won’t be disappointed.
